SUPER BOWL Weekend — the most dangerous 72 hours

The four hours of the game, which is more like six hours of football—an hour before and possibly more than an hour after the game—will be the most dangerous part of the weekend because it is going to be so stressful to watch the Patriots play the Giants again. I am not lying, I could not watch sports, go onto the internet, or pick up a newspaper for weeks after February 3, 2008. Any image or story on David Tyree was too much to witness. I finally came to terms with the loss.

Now I’m older and any stress late in the 4th quarter tonight could lead to a heart attack. That might not be due to the fact that I’m a few years older now, but because I had Reese’s pancakes and a breakfast burrito yesterday morning, and, tonight, I will probably eat chile and the meat explosion during the game tonight. Get ready arteries.

I’m left with about any energy after running 17 miles yesterday morning. Getting off the couch and to the gym this morning will be a struggle but I think I’m at a good point in training and I realize how important the next few weeks are. And, in the the next few weeks, I’ll either be happy about the four hours of the Super Bowl or I’ll be depressed like I was at the start of 2008. This game means a little too much to me. I know it’s just a game (see incredibly childish disappointment after Super Bowl 42), but the next couple of days would be much easier after a Patriots win.
